Itinerary

  • Day 00/01 - Singapore / Nagoya
    Fly Singapore/Haneda JL 036 2150/0550+1 (7h)
      Haneda/Nagoya JL 201 0805/0905 (1h)

    Upon arrival, be met and transferred to the city.

    Start off the Nagoya city tour with Tokugawa Art Museum, probably Nagoya's best attraction. Next, visit Atsuta Jingu Shrine, one of Shinto's most important shrine. 

    If time permits, you can head over to Osu Shopping Arcade, with over 400 shops and restaurants for some shopping.

    Transfer back to hotel and have the rest of the day at your own leisure.

  • Day 02 - Nagoya / Magome Trek / Matsumoto

    Train to Nakatsugawa then transfer to Magome for your trail walk.

    Take on the Magome trek which connected Tokyo and Kyoto during the Edo period. The trail is a highly enjoyable part of visiting the Kiso Valley.

    Along the trail, notable sights will include Magome-post town and the village of Tsumago which is very well preserved from the Edo period.

    Descend and head to Nakatsugawa station then train to Matsumoto and check into hotel. Rest and relax after a long day out.

  • Day 03 - Matsumoto

    Visit the Daio Wasabi Farm, one of Japan's largest wasabi farms and enjoy many different wasabi-related products. 

    Afterwards, visit the Matsumoto Castle, one of the four castles designated as National Treasures of Japan'.

    Continue to Nawate Street and Nakamachi Street. Have a feel of the city's history and enjoy some relaxing moments here before transferring back to your hotel.

  • Day 04 - Matsumoto / Kamikochi / Takayama

    Today, go trekking in Kamikochi which offers some of Japan's most spectacular mountain scenery together with a wide range of alpine flora and wildlife.

    Afterwards, continue to Takayama. The remaining time in the evening will be at leisure.

  • Day 05 - Takayama

    Go on a walking tour of Takayama. Visit the farmers' morning market along the river, before reaching the beautifully preserved Takayama Old Town from the Edo period. 

    Head to Takayama Yatai Kaikan - float festival museum - which houses several of the floats from the 17th century use during the traditional Takayama Festival.

    Next visit the Hida Folk Village, which exhibits over 30 traditional houses from the Hida region, carefully preserved and open for exploration.

    Optional: Cycling Tour at Hida Furukawa (2.5h)
    This 2.5h cycling tour brings you back in time with the beauty of the rice terraces and the seasonal beauty of a farming village, experiencing the daily life in rural Japan.

    Return to the hotel and free at leisure for the rest of the night.

  • Day 06 - Takayama / Shirakawa-go / Kanazawa

    Transfer to Shirakawa-go, a secluded ancient mountain village in the beautiful landscape of the Japanese Alps. It is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and famous for its Gassho-zukuri farmhouses.

    Continue to Kanazawa and stop for a visit to the ancient district of Higashiyama Geisha District, which still preserves Kanazawa's feudal heritage with wooden lattice fronts of Chaya.

    Transfer to your hotel or ryokan and free at leisure for the rest of the night.

    Meal: Breakfast, Kaiseki Dinner (only for stay in Kaga Onsen)

  • Day 07 - Kanazawa / Singapore

    Visit the magnificent Kenrokuen garden, reputedly one of the three most beautiful landscape gardens in Japan.

    Continue to Omicho Fresh Food Market, Kanazawa's largest fresh food market since the Edo period.

    Then, visit the Samurai district of Nagamachi, where samurai and their families used to reside and the Nomura Samurai House to understand the lifestyle and artifacts of the era when samurai were prosperous.

    Transfer to the airport.
