Itinerary

  • Day 01 - Singapore / Tunis / Sidi Bou Said / Carthage / Tunis
    Fly Singapore/Dubai EK405 0140/0450 (7h 10m) - Daily
      Dubai/Tunis EK747 0805/1130 (6hr 25min) - Daily

     

    Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to Sidi Bou Said, with architectures largely influenced by the Andalusian settlers of the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Admire the village’s white-washed walls, bright blue doors and stunning view of the Mediterranean Sea.

    Continue to the historic site of Carthage and Punic, the most important Roman sites in Tunisia. Spread throughout the modern day suburb of Tunis, you will visit the Bysra Hill, the Roman Theatre, the Antoine Baths, the Sanctuary of the Trophet and the ancient Roman port.

    Afterwards, return to Tunis where you will stay for the night.

  • Day 02 - Tunis / Tozeur

    This morning, enjoy a walking tour of the medina, the historic heart of Tunis, through the narrow alleyways and the vibrant souk.

    In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Tunis airport for your flight to Tozeur. (Flight is only available Sunday-Friday, duration: 1h 10m. Except on Wednesday, which is a non-direct flight and will be 2h 15m)

    Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your accommodation to rest.

  • Day 03 - Tozeur / Tamerza / Chebika / Mides / Tozeur

    Early morning wake up around 5am to visit Ong El Jemel for sunrise. Enjoy driving over sand dunes and visiting the filming sites of Star Wars movies.

    After returning to hotel for breakfast, you will visit the mountain oasis of Tamarza, sheltered by granite mountains and bordered with an oued flowing over the stones to form small and beautiful waterfalls. You can also find Neolithic caves and prehistoric archaeology along the abandoned village.

    Continue to Chebika, a stunning oasis irrigated by spring water at the foot of the mountains of Djebel el Negueb. It was once a Roman outpost, a refuge for Berber people, and eventually, filming sites for Star Wars IV: A New Hope and The English Patient.

    En route to Mides, situated in the Djerid region right on the border with Algeria, a miracle of mountain oasis sprouting amidst this arid region. The canyon around this region was used for filming Raiders of the Lost Ark and The English Patient.

    Return to Tozeur to rest for the night.

  • Day 04 - Tozeur / Chott El Djerid / Douz / Matmata / Sfax

    Start early today, crossing over the Salt Lake of Chott el Jerid, one of the biggest lakes in Africa towards Douz city. This scenic lake beckons for plenty of photo opportunities during the 2 hours’ drive.

    From Douz, you will continue for another 2 hours’ drive to Matmata, known for its troglodyte inhabitation. Driven underground by ancient enemies who invaded the country, the residents of Matmata adapted into the cave dwellings. Today, this village boasts thousands of hospitable troglodytes.

    Continue for another 3-4 hours to Sfax, where you will stay for the night.

  • Day 05 - Sfax / El Jem / Sousse

    Enjoy a morning walk along the medina of Sfax. If time permits, you can also visit Dar Jallouli Museum and Archaeology Museum in Sfax (additional cost applies).

    Afterwards, you will continue to El Jem Coliseum, the amphitheater and a small museum where you can admire the Roman mosaics.

    Drive to Sousse to visit the Port El Kantaoui, Ribat and the old Medina.

  • Day 06 - Sousse / Kairouan / Tunis

    This morning, you will be driven to Kairouan.

    You will visit the Great Mosque, built in 1670 by the famous conqueror Okba Ibn Naffa who established the capital of Arab–Muslim Ifryqia and the Holy City of Islam. Visit the Ramparts of Kairouan which is flanked by round towers and bastions, the Zaouia of Sidi Saheb which is also known as “Barber’s Mausoleum” and famous for its magnificent stucco panels and wall ceramics, the 17th century Bir Barouta, Sidi Sahbbe Mausoleum and Aghlabid Basins.

    Drive back to Tunis for overnight.

  • Day 07 - Tunis / Singapore

    This morning, visit the Bardo National Museum. Housed in a former palace of the Ottoman Bey, the Bardo houses a world-class collection of mosaics and remains found in various sites throughout Tunisia.

    Transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
